The shoot was created to bring together suppliers attending The Wonderous Wedding Fair last November. We wanted it to create an alternative shoot, nothing cheesy just fun. As Southsea is synonymous with the seaside we felt it was an obvious choice to celebration the city; independent businesses with a naughtical twist.
We didn’t use a specific venue, we were ‘out and about’ and we were lucky the weather was glorious. Our base was David Western’s boutique on Castle Road in Southsea. Southsea has an adundance of creative outlets and iconic landmarks. Pie ‘n’ Vinly was a great location as it provided a unique backdrop with it’s vinly collection and oddities. The models at the Hot Walls created a soft romantic look juxoposed against the strong stone walls that surrounds the sea.
Cabbage White Flowers created a beautiful bouquet for us. An elegant yet playful selection of blooms for a saucy seaside shoot. Lotus Floral Art provided dried flower crowns whilst Rosadior gave our quikrly silk flowers accessories.
As the shoot was held on one day we wanted to go for a look that could be used in a variety of scenes. We went for striking eyes and pouty pink and red lips. The dresses were provided to us by 4 local and unique wedding dress designers. We wanted a nautical theme without being too obvious or cheesy. Our suppliers really understood what we were trying to achieve. We wanted a nod to the sea without overdoing it with blue and white, anchors etc. We’re so pleased with the results, we feel it represents something that’s fresh, quirky and lively while still being traditional.
A VW campervan was an obvious choice for a seaside shoot. Kelly from Kelly’s Cakeaways came up with more than we could have asked for in a wedding cake; a nod to naval and the sea.
The Feather Balloon Company provided giant balloons, a nice alternative to a bridal bouquet. There is a bit of our inner child wanting to have a balloon.
Choc n Truffle created some fun chocolate lollypops; we loved the red lips.
We brought all of our suppliers together to create as many unique and stlyish looks as possible. It wasnt till we has everything together that we could work out the styling.
